Surya, the sun god, is the visible face of the divine — the giver of light, health and vitality who rides a chariot of seven horses. The Gayatri is chanted to his radiance and the Surya Namaskar offered at dawn. Sundays, Makar Sankranti and Chhath Puja honour him.
