Worship by day
Thursday — the day of Vishnu and Sai Baba
Guruvar — yellow offerings, Vishnu's worship and Sai Baba's darshan.
Thursday (Guruvar) is the day of Brihaspati, guru of the gods, and is devoted to Vishnu — and across India to Sai Baba of Shirdi. Yellow runs through the day: yellow clothes, chana dal, besan sweets. The Guruvar vrat is kept for wisdom, prosperity and a settled family life.
What to do today
- Worship Vishnu with yellow flowers and chana dal; recite the Vishnu Aarti.
- Visit a Sai Baba temple or read the Sai Chalisa.
- Those keeping the vrat wear yellow and eat once.
