Narsinh — Narasimha, the man-lion — is the fourth avatar of Vishnu, who burst from a pillar to protect his child-devotee Prahlada and destroy the tyrant Hiranyakashipu. He is the fierce guardian of those who take refuge in the Lord. Narasimha Jayanti falls on Vaishakha Chaturdashi.
